| Jesus was very intentional in training men to come behind Him and carry on the ministry He had begun. It is very vital to the life of any congregation that the laity be involved in the day to day ministries of the church. When we all work together, we can accomplish great things.
Adult Education If you were an accountant that didn’t know how to read a balance sheet, how far would you go? If you were a doctor who had no knowledge of the map of the human body, how much healing could you offer? If you were a scientist that didn’t understand formulas, how much would you discover? The answer to all these questions is the same. Without the knowledge needed to perform the duties set before you, your outcome would be less than your very best. As a Christian, how deep will your relationship grow with the Lord if you don’t know the truth about the One you seek? At Park Avenue, we believe that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Come join us as we grow in our knowledge of God and in His righteousness. Sunday School We offer eighteen different Adult Sunday School classes that range in format from discussion to lecture styles. The goal for all of our classes is to encourage each other as we seek to know the Lord with all our hearts. Bible Study We offer a wide variety of Bible Studies available in both the mornings and evenings throughout the week. Please call the church for the current schedule of classes available. Library We are so excited to offer a church library that is maintained on a weekly basis. We have a huge selection of Christian fiction containing many of the new authors, an expansive reference section that will aid you as you dig deep into scripture, and a solid non-fiction and Christian Growth area. Please stop by today and “check out” the Library located across from the church offices in the main building.Evangelism It is with great joy, care and diligence that we seek after those that would choose to make their church home with us here at Park Avenue. We consider every visitor and every member a gift from God and a treasure to be cherished as individual members of the body of Christ. Membership Class We offer a 5-week membership class that is strongly recommended before joining the church. The first week addresses what it is to be a Christian, the second and third weeks explain what the major United Methodist beliefs are, the fourth week provides an opportunity to hear about ministries specific to Park Avenue, and finally the fifth week is a chance to discuss what it means to be a member of Park Avenue. This opportunity is designed to be both fun and informative as you enter into relationship with our church. Front Door Ministries We love our visitors! There are few things more exciting in the life of the church than to have “company” that we pray one day will move in and become part of our family. We try very hard to reach out and offer a warm and inviting atmosphere that fosters relationships between both members and visitors. Our Pastor of Visitation takes very serious the commitment we have to those that pass through our doors and goes the extra mile to make them feel right at home. Shepherding Ministries Just because you have joined the church doesn’t mean we stop caring about you! In a church as large as ours, we have to pay close attention to our existing members so that we can minister to them in their time of need and celebrate with them in their times of joy! We have several campaigns throughout the year that reconnect us and remind us that we are all part of one big family.Missions If a fingerprint test could be done to determine the prints of God, would He be identified by the things you’ve touched? The Great Commission. Matthew 28:19 says “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations . . .”. The question has been asked time and again – WHY GO? A simple answer to that age-old question would be nothing more than because Jesus came for us. We strive everyday to reach out and touch people through caring service and tender love. We recognize that it is both an honor and a treat to share even a cup of cool water in our Savior’s name and share His story of grace and mercy through actions. Manna Drops Manna Drops are opportunities for us to take grocery items out into our community and give them away to those in need. Seasonal Ministries Christmas Sharing is a time when we give selflessly to others that would otherwise not have the ability to provide gifts and food to their loved ones at Christmas. Dinner Theaters We raise all the funds used to reach out and serve our community and the world. Our dinner theaters are a fun way that we can gain monetary support from our church family and community. The events also offer us a chance to give back a great experience as well. Clothes Closet Our Clothes Closet is open on Wednesday mornings from 9am to 12 noon and on the first Saturday of each month. Clothes are accepted on donation and are sold at a very low cost to help our community. Mission Trips We normally participate in at least one International Mission trip each year. In the past we have served in Belize, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Brazil. |
