The Music Ministry of Park Avenue United Methodist Church is growing and vibrant. We seek to glorify and honor God through worshipful praise; to lead our congregation in creating an atmosphere of worship and prayer through joyful participation; to provide worship-filled music for the services; and to assist believers in discovering and developing their spiritual gifts in music ministry.

Many persons are finding God’s calling as a place of ministry in the church through their ministry in the Chancel Choir, Sr. High Youth Choir, Mid-High Youth Choir, five Children’s Choirs, Jubilate Handbell Choir, various instrumental offerings and choral ensembles, and as soloists.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir provides most of the worship music for Park Avenue.  They normally sing for all morning worship services, performing a variety of musical styles from classical, traditional, spirituals and contemporary. A strong emphasis is placed on community and fellowship through prayer as well as through music. In addition, the Chancel Choir forms the nucleus of the annual Christmas concerts and Easter pageant, and The Promise.

There are many opportunities for vocalists and instrumentalists to use their talents in solos and small ensembles in worship.

Handbells

We are blessed to have non-auditioned handbell groups for children, youth and adults.  Performing on a five-octave set of Schulmerich bells, these ensembles play for worship approximately once a month on a scheduled basis.

Jubilate Bells — Adults

Rehearsals:  Wednesdays, 6:00-6:55pm In handbell room.

Mid High Melodies — Grades 6-8
Director:  Heather Halter
Rehearsals:  Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30pm In handbell room.

Hallelujah Handbells — Grades 4-5
Director:  Heather Halter
Rehearsals:  Sundays, 4:30-5:30pm In handbell room

Children’s Choirs

Our children’s choral music program is held in conjunction with the Children’s Education ministry of Park Avenue entitled K-Kids which is held from 4-5:30pm on Wednesdays.  It begins with 3-year-olds, where an emphasis is placed on fun. Proper vocal technique, basic musicianship, and Biblical truths are also part of the curriculum.
